Houston Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez struck out seven in six effective innings and benefited from a six-run offensive outburst in a 9-3 win over Washington at Nationals Park.

Rodriguez (11-10), who has won three of his last four decisions, allowed seven hits and three runs before turning it over to the bullpen. The southpaw also contributed to the offense with a double and an RBI.

Houston got to Washington starter John Lannan (9-12) for six runs (four earned) in 2 1/3 innings. Five different players drove in runs for Houston in the third, with Chris Johnson knocking in a pair. Lannan has lost five of his last six starts.

Every Houston regular had at least one hit, with Jason Bourgeois getting three and Johnson, Carlos Lee, Carlos Corporan and Angel Sanchez getting a pair.

The win kept the Astros at 96 losses, one short of matching the club's single-season record. It was only Houston's fifth win at Washington in its last 17 games.
