Jesus Luzardo combined with three relievers on a four-hitter Tuesday night for the visiting Miami Marlins, who edged the New York Mets 4-2 in the opener of a three-game series.

Tim Anderson, Nick Gordon and Bryan De La Cruz drove in runs for the Marlins, who won for just the second time in eight games. Mark Vientos laced a two-run double for the Mets, who fell to 6-4 in their last 10.

Luzardo (3-5) gave up two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four over 5 2/3 innings. He retired 13 of the final 17 batters he faced following Vientos' double.

Anthony Bender and Andrew Nardi got two outs apiece before Tanner Scott recorded his eighth save by retiring all six batters he faced.

Anderson, who missed the previous three games while on the bereavement list, had two hits and a run scored.

Otto Lopez led off the Marlins' ninth with a single, stole second and took third on a throwing error by catcher Francisco Alvarez before scoring on Gordon's sacrifice fly to left.

Starling Marte finished with two hits for the Mets.

New York starter Tylor Megill (1-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over 4 2/3 innings.

Sanchez led off the second with a double and scored on Anderson's two-out single, but the Mets immediately responded in the bottom half. J.D. Martinez was hit by a pitch to open the inning and Marte singled before both players raced home on Vientos' double to left.

Anderson opened the Marlins' go-ahead rally in the fifth with a leadoff single and advanced to third on Nick Fortes' grounder to third. Jazz Chisholm Jr. walked before Anderson scored on De La Cruz's double to deep left. After Josh Bell flew out, Vientos made a sprawling stop of Jake Burger's grounder down the third base line, but his throw to first drew Pete Alonso off the bag as Chisholm scored.
