Javier Baez blasted his second three-run homer of the game in the bottom of the 11th to give the host Detroit Tigers a 10-9 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.
Baez's game-winner off Greg Weissert (1-1) came after Jace Jung advanced automatic runner Dillon Dingler with a single. Baez scored three runs and drove in six as the Tigers won for the seventh time in nine games.
Kristian Campbell hit a two-out, two-run homer off winning pitcher Beau Brieske (1-1) in the top of the inning to give Boston a short-lived 9-7 lead.
Spencer Torkelson had a solo homer for the Tigers. David Hamilton hit a two-run shot for the Red Sox and Alex Bregman smacked a solo shot.
Boston starter Brayan Bello gave up three runs (two earned) and six hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Detroit scored a run in the first on Riley Greene's RBI single. Meanwhile, Tyler Holton, who opened the game for the Tigers, set down the first five batters he faced. Nick Sogard then doubled to left and Keider Montero replaced Holton. Carlos Narvaez greeted the right-hander with a run-scoring single.
The Tigers regained the lead in the third. Baez drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third on Kerry Carpenter's single. Baez scored on catcher Narvaez's errant pickoff attempt.
Bregman made it 2-2 when he led off the fourth with his 10th homer. In the bottom of the inning, Torkelson smacked his 11th homer.
Once again, the Red Sox answered. Hamilton led off the fifth with a single and scored on Ceddanne Rafaela's double to left. Jarren Duran's single gave Boston its first lead.
The Tigers took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Torkelson walked and Jung was hit by a pitch with two outs. Baez then yanked a slider from Garrett Whitlock over the left-field wall.
Hamilton then drilled his second homer of the season in the eighth to tie the score.
Rafaela knocked in a run in the 10th on a fielder's choice, but Trey Sweeney's two-out single tied it in the bottom of the inning.
