St. Louis pulled even on Xavier Scruggs’ RBI single in the fifth before the Reds moved ahead in the sixth on Frazier’s solo blast and Bruce’s run-scoring single. Randal Grichuk’s RBI double cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom half, but the Reds drew clear in the eighth as Mesoraco greeted rookie Sam Tuivailala with a three-run homer and Bruce followed one batter later with a solo blast.

Bruce is 14-for-28 with three homers and 10 RBIs against Lynn, who entered the game with a 1.80 ERA over his previous six starts. St. Louis left nine runners on base and lost for the second time in nine games against the Reds at home this season.
