Astros 9, Royals 2: George Springer continued his offensive onslaught by going 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs as visiting Houston took the opener of the three-game series.

Marwin Gonzalez also collected four hits and drove in a run, Jason Castro recorded two RBIs and Springer scored five times for the Astros, who matched a season high with their third straight victory. Scott Feldman (3-2) allowed two runs and eight hits in six innings, walking one without registering a strikeout.

Lorenzo Cain went 4-for-4 with an RBI single for the Royals, who have registered only seven extra-base hits - all doubles - in their last four games. Yordano Ventura (2-5) failed to escape the third inning while dealing with elbow soreness en route to suffering his fourth straight loss.

Houston scored in five of the first six innings, chasing Ventura after the right-hander allowed five runs and seven hits in 2 2/3 frames. Castro and Matt Dominguez each drove in a run in the first before Springer delivered a two-run double and scored in the second for a 5-0 lead.

Springer raced home on a double-play grounder in the fourth and Gonzalez plated a run an inning later with a single before Castro added an RBI base hit in the sixth. Springer capped his impressive effort by leading off the eighth with his eighth homer of the year and fifth in four games to become the first Houston rookie to homer in four consecutive games.
