Dodgers 2, Royals 0: Clayton Kershaw tossed eight stellar innings as visiting Los Angeles evened the three-game series at one win apiece.

Adrian Gonzalez drove in and scored a run while pinch hitter Andre Ethier added an RBI single in the ninth for the Dodgers, who have won six of their last eight contests. Kershaw (8-2) followed up his first career no-hitter by allowing six hits and a walk while registering eight strikeouts en route to winning his fifth straight start and Kenley Jansen fanned two in a perfect ninth for his 23rd save.

Eric Hosmer and Danny Valencia notched two hits apiece for the Royals, who suffered their fifth loss in six contests. Danny Duffy (4-7) fell to 1-3 at home despite yielding just one run and four hits in six frames.

Los Angeles gave Kershaw an early run with which to work, and it proved to be all he needed. Justin Turner led off the game with a triple and came in to score three batters later when Gonzalez hit a liner that deflected off the glove of Duffy and directly to shortstop Alcides Escobar, who flipped the ball to second for a forceout.

Kershaw yielded a one-out single by Hosmer in the bottom of the first, putting to rest any thoughts of him becoming the first pitcher since Cincinnati's Johnny Vander Meer in 1938 to toss back-to-back no-hitters. The Royals had two baserunners in the fourth and repeated the feat in the seventh, getting a man to third base before Kershaw induced an inning-ending groundout.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles SS Hanley Ramirez was kept out of the starting lineup due to recurring discomfort in his right shoulder. ... Kershaw has allowed a total of four runs over 37 innings during his winning streak. He improved to 5-1 on the road this season. ... Dodgers C A.J. Ellis, who recorded two hits, is 3-for-7 over the first two games of the series.
