Blue Jays 7, Royals 3:
Juan Francisco belted a two-run homer and Colby Rasmus added a solo shot and two RBIs as visiting Toronto averted a three-game sweep.

Anthony Gose had two hits and two RBIs to help Mark Buehrle (5-1) become the American League's first five-game winner. The 35-year-old left-hander allowed three runs - two earned - on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings as the Blue Jays won for only the second time in eight games.

Billy Butler had two hits and two RBIs while Omar Infante went 2-for-3 and scored twice for Kansas City, which had its three-game winning streak snapped. Jeremy Guthrie (2-2) was tagged for four runs and eight hits in six innings.

Butler drove in his first run with a third-inning single to put the Royals ahead 2-1, but Gose helped out Buehrle by throwing out Eric Hosmer at home plate on the play. Francisco launched a two-run shot in the fourth - his third blast in six games - to reclaim the lead for Toronto before Butler doubled home Infante with the tying run in the fifth.

Rasmus put the Jays ahead to stay with a solo homer in the sixth and drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to chase reliever Michael Mariot in favor of Louis Coleman, who was greeted by Gose's two-run double to left that made it 7-3. Chris Getz and Brett Lawrie also had two hits apiece for Toronto, which hasn't been swept by Kansas City since 2001.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Blue Jays RF Jose Bautista, who singled and walked, has reached base in all 28 games. ... Butler's two hits boosted his career numbers against Buehrle to 22-for-63 with 17 RBIs. ... Getz, who spent the previous four seasons with Kansas City, improved to 9-for-15 lifetime against Guthrie. ... Toronto, which was without LF Melky Cabrera (shin), continues its eight-game road trip at Pittsburgh on Friday while Kansas City opens a three-game set versus visiting Detroit.
