Twins 11, Royals 5 (10): Eduardo Nunez delivered the tiebreaking single in a six-run 10th-inning uprising as visiting Minnesota beat Kansas City to salvage the finale of the three-game series.

Jordan Schafer had three hits and tied a career best with four RBIs, including a two-run single in the 10th, and Brian Dozier added a two-run double later in the inning as part of his three-hit, three-RBI performance. Kurt Suzuki had three hits, the last being an RBI double in the 10th, and Anthony Swarzak (3-1) recorded the final two outs in the ninth.

Bruce Chen (2-4) gave up all six runs in the 10th as the Royals saw their lead in the American League Central dip to 1 1/2 games over the Detroit Tigers. Billy Butler reached base four times on two hits and two walks for Kansas City.

The Royals trailed 4-2 before Christian Colon stroked a run-scoring single in the fourth and Butler delivered a tying single in the fifth. The Twins regained the lead in the sixth when Schafer smacked a one-out run-scoring double but the Royals tied it at 5-5 in the seventh when Alex Gordon hit a leadoff homer to right-center field off Ryan Pressly.

Minnesota tallied twice in the first inning on Kennys Vargas’ infield out and Oswaldo Arcia’s infield single. The Royals tied it in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Gordon and Salvador Perez before the Twins went ahead 4-2 in the fourth when Schafer singled in a run and later scored on Dozier’s single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Royals 2B Omar Infante (shoulder) sat out for the third straight game. … Minnesota starter Tommy Milone gave up four runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings, while Kansas City’s Jeremy Guthrie allowed five runs and nine hits in six innings. … The Royals claimed INF Jayson Nix off waivers from Pittsburgh, activated LHP Scott Downs (neck) and optioned RHP Liam Hendriks to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
