Mets 3, Cardinals 2:
Bartolo Colon tossed eight solid innings and Eric Young Jr. ripped a pair of RBI doubles as New York recorded a rare win in St. Louis to salvage the finale of the three-game series.

David Wright snapped a tie with a run-scoring single in the sixth inning for the Mets, who secured their fourth win in 15 contests overall and improved to 14-30 in the Gateway City since 2001.

Colon (7-5) rebounded after allowing Matt Carpenter's homer to lead off the first inning to silence the Cardinals. The 41-year-old Dominican yielded just that run and scattered four hits on 86 pitches to improve to 4-0 in his career versus St. Louis.

With his team trailing 1-0, Colon led off the sixth with a double down the left-field line against Lance Lynn (7-5) for his first hit since 2005. The portly pitcher came around to score his second career run on Young's first double and Wright fisted a blooper to shallow right before being thrown out at second.

Young gave New York a 3-1 advantage in the seventh as he deposited the ball just inside the left-field line for a ground-rule double. Carpenter trimmed the deficit by scoring on Allen Craig's infield single in the ninth, but Dana Eveland induced Matt Adams to ground out to secure his first save since 2005.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. Louis RHP Adam Wainwright declared himself ready to start on Saturday after completing a morning bullpen session prior to the game. Wainwright missed his last start due to lingering tendinitis in his right elbow. ... Lynn permitted two runs on five hits in six innings to take the loss. ... After taking five of six against Washington and New York, the Cardinals look to continue their dominance against another National League East team when they open a four-game set versus visiting Philadelphia on Thursday. The Mets wrap up their seven-game road trip by beginning a four-game series at Miami on Thursday.
