Giants 9, Cardinals 4: Hunter Pence hit a three-run homer and Madison Bumgarner pitched seven shutout innings as visiting San Francisco pounded St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright.

Gregor Blanco and Hector Sanchez had two RBIs apiece as the Giants won for the eighth time in nine games. Five San Francisco players had two hits and the Giants racked up 12 overall while beating the Cardinals for the second straight night.

Bumgarner (7-3) struck out 10 and gave up just three hits and walked one while winning his fifth consecutive decision. Wainwright (8-3) entered the contest with a major league-best 1.67 ERA but was torched for seven runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Michael Morse hit a first-inning run-scoring single to get San Francisco started and the Giants added four in the second on Angel Pagan’s RBI single to center and Pence’s mammoth blast into the third deck in left. Blanco smacked a two-run single in the fifth to make it 7-0 and Sanchez added a two-run single in the seventh before Jon Jay got St. Louis on the board with a three-run double in the eighth and scored on Allen Craig’s double.

Sanchez was in the lineup in place of catcher Buster Posey, who continues to be plagued by lower-back issues and missed his second straight game. Wainwright gave up just six hits in 17 scoreless innings over his previous two starts before enduring his worst performance of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games but failed to drive in a run to end his RBI streak at nine consecutive contests, the club’s best streak since Barry Bonds also had a nine-game RBI streak in 2000. … 1B Matt Adams (calf) missed his third straight start for St. Louis, which recalled OF Randal Grichuk from Triple-A Memphis and optioned OF Shane Robinson to the same club. … San Francisco placed scheduled Saturday starter Matt Cain (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list and plans to recall OF Juan Perez from Triple-A Fresno on Saturday. RHP Yusmeiro Petit will start in place of Cain.
