Giants 11, Royals 4: Hunter Pence had three hits and three RBIs, and Pablo Sandoval delivered the tiebreaking two-run single as host San Francisco defeated Kansas City to even the World Series at two games apiece.

Joe Panik also drove in two runs and Brandon Belt, Juan Perez and Buster Posey each had one RBI for San Francisco, which hosts Game 5 on Sunday. Yusmeiro Petit (3-0) tossed three scoreless innings of relief and also had a hit as the Giants racked up 16 hits overall while bouncing back after losing the previous two games.

Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez each had three hits and an RBI for the Royals, who let a 4-1 lead slip away. Brandon Finnegan (1-1) gave up five runs and five hits in one-plus innings, including Sandoval’s hit with the bases loaded in the sixth.

Pence bounced into a fielder’s choice at the plate in the sixth before Sandoval singled to center to give the Giants a 6-4 lead and Belt followed with a single to right-center field. San Francisco blew it open with four runs in the seventh, highlighted by Panik’s two-run double to left-center and Pence’s RBI double to left.

Kansas City recovered from a 1-0 deficit with four runs in the third on Hosmer’s RBI single, Omar Infante’s two-run base hit and Perez’s single to center. Posey singled in a run for the Giants in the third, Pence had an RBI single in the fifth and Juan Perez hit a sacrifice fly later in the frame to tie it as Royals center fielder Jarrod Dyson made a diving catch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Petit allowed two hits in Game 4 and has pitched 12 scoreless innings this postseason, giving up just four hits. … Royals LF Alex Gordon had a double in the ninth for only his second hit in 16 at-bats in the series. … Kansas City starter Jason Vargas allowed three runs and six hits in four-plus innings, while San Francisco’s Ryan Vogelsong gave up four runs and seven hits in 2 2/3 frames.
