Jason Clark led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds as No. 12 Georgetown held off visiting Providence, 49-40, on Saturday.
Henry Simms added 11 points and Otto Porter grabbed 15 rebounds for the Hoyas (12-1, 2-0 Big East), who have won 10 straight.
Georgetown has a showdown with No. 13 Marquette looming on Thursday.
The Friars (11-4, 0-2) shot 24 percent (6 of 25) in the first half, falling behind by as much as 24-10 before closing to 27-19 at the break.
But Providence locked down on the defensive end in the second half and slowed it down offensively, dragging itself back into the game. A 7-0 run tied it at 35-35 with 8:01 left.
Georgetown never let the Friars gain the lead, getting an offensive rebound and a layup from Clark and four straight points from Sims to push back ahead. The Friars would draw back within a point but went 0 of 6 from the floor and missed a pair of free throws while going scoreless over the final 4:40.
LaDontae Henton recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds for Providence.
