Sean Mosley recorded a game-high 19 points as Maryland took a huge early lead and held off a second-half rally by visiting Cornell for a 70-62 victory Tuesday.
The Terps (10-3), who led by as many as 21 in the first half, did not make a field goal the first 11:26 of the second half and saw their lead cut to one. Cornell could never tie or go ahead.
Both Alex Len (15 points, nine rebounds) and Terrell Stoglin (14 points) made key baskets down the stretch as Maryland won its seventh straight.
Senior Chris Wroblewski led Cornell (4-9) with 15 points and reached 1,000 for his career. Freshman Devin Cherry, who had scored just two points in six games this season, registered 14 in the Big Red’s fifth straight loss.
Maryland held Cornell’s leading scorer Drew Ferry, averaging four 3-pointers, to 1-of-9 from behind the arc and seven points.
Six players scored for the Terps as they sped to a 16-0 lead in the first five minutes. Maryland made 17-of-27 from the field (63 percent) and settled for a 41-26 halftime cushion.
Cornell is now 0-8 on the road and 1-24 all time against current ACC schools.
