No. 9 Syracuse 63, Notre Dame 47: C.J. Fair had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the host Orange snapped a two-game losing streak by downing the Fighting Irish in Big East play.
Jerami Grant scored a career-high 14 points and Rakeem Christmas added 12 as Syracuse (19-3, 7-2) extended the nation's longest home win streak to 36 consecutive games.
Jerian Grant scored 15 points and Jack Cooley added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Notre Dame (18-5, 6-4), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
The Orange led 30-24 at halftime and used a 9-0 surge over five-plus minutes to take a 43-28 edge on Christmas’ layup with 11:11 to play. Notre Dame moved to within nine on a three-point play by Grant before Syracuse went on a 9-3 run to open up a 52-37 advantage.
Syracuse scored the game’s first 11 points as Notre Dame missed its first five shots and committed five turnovers before Eric Atkins drained a 3-pointer with 14:10 left in the half. Atkins hit another 3-pointer to give the Fighting Irish an 11-10 lead with 12:01 to go.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Syracuse’s Jerami Grant and Notre Dame’s Jerian Grant are brothers and the sons of former NBA player Harvey Grant. … The Orange were 15-of-17 from the free-throw line while Notre Dame was 5-of-10. … The double-double was Cooley’s 15th of the season.
