LSU 71, Texas Tech 69: Anthony Hickey scored 16 points and was one of four players in double figures for the visiting Tigers, who held off the Red Raiders.
Johnny O'Bryant III added 14 points, Shavon Coleman scored 13 and Andre Stringer had 12 for the Tigers. Hickey was 6-for-8 from the field and 4-for-4 from 3-point range for LSU (7-2).
Jaye Crockett led Texas Tech (7-4) with 18 points, and Robert Turner chipped in 14. The Red Raiders shot just 36.4 percent from the floor, but were helped by 31-of-39 free throws.
Texas Tech scored seven straight points to cut a nine-point LSU lead to 71-69 with 1:41 to go. The Red Raiders had multiple opportunities to tie, but Jordan Mickey blocked Turner’s first attempt and a 3-pointer at the buzzer was too strong.
The Tigers led 29-18 midway through the first half, but the Red Raiders rallied with an 8-0 run and eventually tied the game at 37 on Crockett's layup. LSU took a 44-39 lead to the locker room, with Stringer’s 12 leading the way.
