Joshua Langford had 18 points and Michigan State snapped a four-game losing streak with a 66-56 triumph over cold-shooting Nebraska in East Lansing, Mich. on Saturday.
Aaron Henry supplied 16 points, six rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals for the Spartans. Gabe Brown added six points and seven rebounds and Foster Loyer had six points and four assists.
Michigan State (9-7 overall, 3-7 Big Ten), which had three postponements in January, notched its first victory since Jan. 5, when it defeated then-No. 15 Rutgers. The Spartans also defeated the Cornhuskers 84-77 in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 2.
Nebraska (4-9, 0-6), which has lost six straight, was playing its first game since Jan. 10 due to a coronavirus outbreak in the program.
Trey McGowens led the Cornhuskers with 13 points and Lat Mayen had 10. Nebraska shot 36.2 percent from the field and went 3-for-17 on 3-point attempts.
The Spartans overcame 22 turnovers, but the Cornhuskers weren't much better, committing 17. Michigan State controlled the boards, 47-34.
Michigan State led 34-22 at halftime. Nebraska made only 25 percent of its field-goal attempts in the first half. The Spartans overcame 12 turnovers by shooting 44.8 percent from the field in the half.
With the game 16-16, the Spartans went on an 11-1 run. Henry scored five of those points and Brown had four. Henry also scored the last basket of the half after a Cornhuskers turnover.
The Spartans' lead grew to 16 in the first 3 1/2 minutes of the second half with the aid of 3-pointers by Langford and Henry.
Nebraska chipped away, and when Kobe Webster made a 3-pointer and Dalano Banton scored off a turnover, the Spartans' advantage was down to 46-39.
Michigan State scored seven of the next eight points, five from Henry, to make it 53-40, and the game was out of reach.
