Austin Davis threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns, leading Southern Mississippi to a 31-21 upset over No. 23 Central Florida on Saturday.
Davis threw two touchdowns to Kelvin Bolden and one each to Johdrick Morris and DeAndre Brown, as he helped the Golden Eagles rally from an early 14-0 deficit.
Freshman Jeff Godfrey threw for 189 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for the Golden Knights (7-3, 5-1 C-USA), who entered the game ranked for the first time in school history.
UCF jumped out to the early lead thanks to a 1-yard touchdown run from Godfrey and a 2-yard plunge from Brian Watters.
The Golden Eagles (7-3, 4-2), however, rattled off 31 unanswered points before Godfrey's touchdown pass to Jamar Newsome with 4:35 remaining cut the lead to 10.
