Case Keenum became the NCAA’s all-time career passing leader and No. 14 Houston rolled to a 56-13 victory over host Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday.

A week after he broke the NCAA record for career touchdown passes, Keenum threw for 407 yards to break former Hawaii quarterback Timmy Chang’s record of 17,072 yards. Keenum finished 39-for-44.

Keenum tied the record with a 26-yard pass to Justin Johnson midway through the third quarter, and broke it the next play on a 15-yard hookup with Johnson. Keenum went on to score on a 1-yard run later in the drive - his second rushing touchdown of the night - to give Houston a commanding 35-13 lead.

Houston (9-0, 5-0 Conference USA) is off to its best start in school history.

Johnson, Tyron Carrier and Daniel Spencer each had a receiving touchdown for Houston, which topped 50 points for the fourth consecutive game and fifth time this season.

Alabama-Birmingham (1-8, 1-5) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when Jonathan Perry found Patrick Heam for a 9-yard touchdown catch.

But the Blazers failed to recover an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff and Houston responded with an eight-play, 47-yard drive, capped by a 2-yard pass from Keenum to Carrier to tie the game.

Houston has won three straight over Alabama-Birmingham.
