John Wolford threw for one touchdown, ran for another and totaled 243 yards from scrimmage, leading visiting Wake Forest to a 34-10 blowout victory over Boston College on Saturday.

Wolford hit freshman receiver Greg Dortch for a 9-yard touchdown pass -- Dortch's third TD catch in two games -- and scored on a 29-yard run in the first half for the Demon Deacons (2-0).

The Deacons picked off redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown three times, with Essang Bassey returning one of the picks 30 yards for a touchdown late in the first half. That lengthened Wake Forest's first-half lead to 21-7 before the break.

Wolford was 13 of 19 for 151 yards and ran for 92 yards on 20 carries -- six of the completions going to Dortch, who has 10 catches for 111 yards in two games.

Mike Weaver kicked field goals of 25 and 34 yards.

The loss ended BC's four-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Brown was 11 of 29 for 119 yards before being replaced in the third quarter by Darius Wade.

BC turned the ball over four times, running back Jon Hilliman giving it away with 2:45 left in the first half. Hilliman caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Brown for the Eagles' only touchdown, while Colton Lichtenberg, the reigning ACC special teams player of the week, kicked a 30-yard field goal.

Thadd Smith led BC in rushing with 46 yards, while Jeff Smith had five catches for 56 yards.

The Demon Deacons, who blasted FCS Presbyterian College 51-7 in their opener, host Utah State next week. BC hosts the latest renewal against rival Notre Dame in a battle between the only Catholic school programs in FBS.

Before the game, the Eagles announced senior center Job Baker, who suffered a knee injury in their opener, will be out for the season with surgery. He intends to redshirt and return for another season.

Freshman Ben Petrula started and wiped out a 23-yard pass play by sending the next snap over Brown's head for a 24-yards loss.
