Corey Perry scored a tie-breaking power-play goal with 57 seconds left, Josh Gibson had 41 saves, and the visiting Anaheim Ducks beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 in Denver on Friday night.
Perry finished with two goals, Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and two assists and Daniel Sprong had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who dealt a blow to Colorado's playoff hopes.
Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and an assist, and Mikko Rantanen and Sven Andrighetto scored for the Avalanche. Colorado (30-29-12) is now five points behind Arizona for the Western Conference's second wild-card spot with 11 games remaining for both teams.
Semyon Varlamov stopped 32 shots for the Avalanche, who have lost two straight at home.
Perry got the game winner after Rantanen went off for high sticking at 17:39. Nick Ritchie put it in front, and Perry tapped it in to put the Ducks ahead 4-3. Hampus Lindholm sealed it with an empty-net goal at 19:37.
MacKinnon gave Colorado the early lead with his team-leading 36th goal at 6:54 of the first period.
Rantanen made it 2-0 on the power play when he got a pass from Tyson Barrie, skated in on Gibson and beat him with a backhander at 18:10 of the first. It was his 31st of the season.
The Ducks came storming back in the second period, scoring twice in a 1:15 span to tie it. Perry got the first one when he got the puck in front of the net, waited for Varlamov to commit and then beat him with a backhander at 6:08.
Getzlaf tied it when Cam Fowler fed him in the slot and he beat Varlamov with a snap shot at 7:23. It was his 13th of the season.
Sprong gave Anaheim the lead when worked his way to the front of the net and tapped Jaycob Megna's rebound through Varlamov's legs at 13:40 of the second. It was his 13th of the season.
It remained 3-2 until the third period, when Ian Cole carried the puck from behind the net and fed Andrighetto in front, and he poked it by Gibson at 8:42. It was his fifth of the season.
